Makeup Revolution Mint Chocolate Eyeshadow Palette.

When my boyfriend's mum asked me what I wanted for christmas, I knew the answer had to be an eyeshadow palette. But which one? I didn't want to ask for something that was going to break the bank so Makeup Revolution is always a go to, especially after falling in love with their shadows through the Soph palette.

Their chocolate bar palettes were obviously started as dupes for the Too Faced chocolate bar palettes but now outnumber the originals. I definitely prefer the packaging of Too Faced but Makeup Revolution wins for the variety. I almost asked for the newly released Chocolate Orange palette but in the end I had to go for the Mint Chocolate palette.

I love the shade range in this palette and the shadows themselves are highly pigmented. There is a little fall out but nothing overwhelming. I just wish the shade names were actually on the packaging instead of on a clear sheet that I'm obviously going to lose at some point in the near future! It includes a big mirror (bigger than the ones in the Too Faced versions) so this would be a good palette to travel with.

These swatches are just one swipe, no dipping back in to built it up here! The shimmers are the real star of the show for me. Distorted and Commotion are my favourite shades. (Can I just take a moment to express my disappointed that the shade names have nothing to do with mint or chocolate?!) This is easily going to become one of my most used palettes for this year.

Primark Beauty Favourites.

Primark's beauty section can be quite hit and miss but it's amazing when you find a hidden gem amongst some of the more bargain basement style products. Also, not every Primark carries the same products and some products tend to disappear after a while so even if you do fancy trying something or repurchase something, there isn't always a guarantee you'll be able to get your hands on it. But I thought I'd do a post on my favourite products anyway as I think most of these are still available in most Primarks still!

Starting with base products, all of these are from the PS Pro range which I'm a big fan of. I suffer from redness quite badly so buying the colour correcting primer was a no brainer. Don't hold me to this, but I think it costs £5. It definitely does what it says and is a great primer to use during the summer as it also has SPF 30. On the days when I want to use a different primer, I use the Longwear CC concealer instead. I can't remember how much this cost but it's worth the money as a little goes a long way. The Longwear Mineralized Foundation SPF 15 is my go to everyday foundation. It only costs £5 and has really good coverage. I use the shade Porcelain which is the lightest and a spot on match for me. If you have pale skin and struggle to find a drugstore foundation fair enough, this might be one to check out. I have dry skin and it doesn't cling to any dry patches or break apart on my nose, which can be a problem with other foundations. I'm not sure how well it lasts on oily skin but for a fiver, it's definitely worth giving a try. I've also seen reviews saying it's a good dupe for Estee Lauder's Double Wear but I've never tried it so can't really give an opinion on that.

Let's talk about the Mermaid Glow Highlighting Powder. If you like a subtle highlight, this is not for you! I want to say this was £3... And so worth the money! I reach for this quite a lot, it's perfect on my pale skin but wouldn't work on darker skin tones. I'm not sure if this is still in stores either.

Onto liquid lipsticks, I've tried the normal PS ones and I was not a fan of the formula. I got rid of them straight away. The PS Pro Kiss Proof Liquid Matte Lipsticks however, are a welcome addition to my makeup collection. I have the shades Nude In private (pinky nude), Rouge in Danger (dark berry) and Dark in Tension (berry toned brown.) These dry down quite quickly and the staying power is impression for Primark and the cheap price.

I don't think it'll be a surprise to see the Velvet Matte Lipstick Crayons included here as everyone seems to already know how great these are. For £2, these are a steal. The Precious Metals Lip Crayons are a newer edition and ones I actually left the stickers on so I know the shade names! The more coppery one, 24K dip, is my favourite of the two and these apply beautifully. Like the Velvet Matte, these also only cost £2 each.

I wouldn't be without the PS Pro Make Up Melt now. This is a dream for removing makeup and it smells gorgeous! Even if I use something else, like micellar water,  to remove a full face of makeup, I will take a tiny bit of this on my lashes to remove waterproof mascara as it makes it come off so easily. A definite repurchase as long as Primark don't get rid of it!

March Empties.

I haven't posted in a while, so this empties post is a bit very late. The reason why being I took a little city break at the start of the month but let's save the details of that for another post, shall we? I'd never really thought about how many products I use up a month and this is only my second empties post but I'm surprised that there's more than two things!

Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar & Ladybird Bubble BarI'm gutted to see these used up as they're both from seasonal ranges. Ladybird was my favourite out of the two, I loved the scent of peppermint and it turned my bath a lovely colour. I'm slowly working my way through my basket of Lush goodies as I'm on a self imposed Lush ban until it's looking a little emptier. There will definitely be some more Lush products in my empties for next month too!

Vera Wang Rock Princess Eau De Toilette 100ml
This has been a favourite of mine since it was released back in '09. I've only tried the original and this one out of the Princess range but I will keep buying this again and again. It has top notes of peach, raspberry and bergamot; heart notes of heliotrope, rose, jasmine and lily; and bottom notes of cashmere wood, musk, iris and coconut. (Yes, I had to look it up as I'm useless as describing scents.)

Primark Polka Eau De Toilette 50ml
This little bargain only cost £6 and it smells lovely, with the bottle reminding me of the Marc Jacobs Daisy range. I've read that the actual perfume itself is a pretty good dupe for Paco Rabanne's Lady Million but I've never smelt that myself so can't tell you whether I agree or not! I've still got the £2 rollerball of Polka so I won't be rushing out to buy another bottle just yet.

Diesel Loverdose Eau De Toilette 1.5ml
A bit cheeky of me to include a sample perfume in my empties, right? Oh well.
I received a bottle of this for my birthday about five years ago from one of my friends and got through it pretty quickly. Finding this sample size rolling around my muji drawers reminded me how much I loved it! I'm not even sure where this sample came from but it's given me the push I needed to make me want to buy myself a full size bottle.

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer
Rimmel is my favourite high street make up brand and this little primer has been well loved, which explains why the tube is so dirty. This is a definite repurchase.

Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make-Up Remover Pads
When it comes to skincare, I love Simple products and I've already got another pack of these ready to go now that this one is empty. I tend to only reach for these when I'm wearing eyeshadow and mascara, instead of just mascara else I'm go through these incredibly quickly. It's a handy little pack for travelling with too.

Mini TKMaxx & Primark Beauty Haul.

I've definitely been converted to a TKmaxx lover recently. I love that I have to have a proper good rummage throughout everything in the beauty section, makes finding some treasures really worthwhile! Last week, I managed to find these...

There was a really good selection of Nars duo eyeshadows. I opted for Brumes, which will be perfect for a smoky eye. New travel makeup bag essential? Oh yes! I picked this up for £9.99.

The other thing I found was the Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum. This is just the 8ml travel size, but it has an RRP of £24 and I got it for £12.99. This is advertised as a primer and serum in one with 28 beneficial ingredients to nourish and prepare your skin for a flawless makeup application. This is the first Hourglass product I've ever owned so I'm excited to try this out.

I also headed to Primark for a mega splurge. Amongst all the clothing items, I also bought a few beauty bits...

The Velvet Matte Lipstick Crayon in Dark Purple. Do I even need to mention how great these are? The hype is real, if you haven't given in to it yet, you need to! These crayons are only £2 each but they are amazing. I think I've just about got them in every colour now. I might do a seperate post on these at some point and include swatches.

I think the Makeup Brush Cleanser is a new product as I hadn't seen it on previous visits. This was also only £2 and for that price, I'm not bothered if it turns out to be complete rubbish but I'm interested to see how it compares to a pricier cleanser.

The Brow Fixing Gel was only £1, a complete steal! Saying that, I haven't tried it yet but c'mon, one pound! I'm a fan of Primark's brow pencils so I do have high hopes for the gel.

Lastly, I picked up the Makeup Revolution Pro Prime Aqua Priming Base in superdrug. I've only tried this once but I'm liking it so far. I'd never used a spray primer before but I think I could turn out to prefer this. I have quite dry skin so this could be a better option for me.

Favourite Drugstore Foundations For Pale Skin

If you have a fair complexion, you probably know how difficult it can be to find a foundation that matches your skin tone completely. In my teens, I felt like I was always wearing foundation that was at least two shades darker than what I should've been. At long last, in my very late twenties, I've settled with five foundations that I'm very happy with and they're all very affordable. These are my favourite foundations, that I rotate through pretty regularly.

Rimmel Match Perfection SPF20 in Light PorcelainMy go to foundation, the one that probably gets used the most. Rimmel have outdone themselves on the shade range in their foundations. Light Porcelain is the lightest shade and like the name, it is definitely a perfect match! I'm also a big fan of the Match Perfection concealer too.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Anti-Fatigue Foundation in Light Porcelain
I originally bought this in the shade Ivory, thinking it was the lightest shade as Tesco doesn't stock all the shades in the range. It was only after a trip to Superdrug that I realized my mistake. This one is in the same shade as my Match Perfection foundation but this offers more of glow to the skin. I got up at 4:30am three days of the week so any foundation that promises to wake me up was bound to end up in my makeup collection eventually.

Sleek Makeup Bare Skin Foundation in Shell
I tend to reach for this foundation when I feel like my skin is having a 'good' day, isn't looking too blotchy and I don't need as much coverage. Shockingly for me, this isn't the lightest shade, I think there are about four or so which are lighter than this one. Unfortunately a quick check on the Sleek website has left me in fear that they no longer make this, as the only foundation listed is the powder to creme foundation. Please tell me it isn't so! On the bright side, you can still buy this from amazon, so I may have to pick up another from there while I still can!

The Body Shop Moisture Foundation SPF15 in 04
The most expensive out of all the foundations but still only priced at £13. This is described as ideal for normal to dry skin, and I tend to save this foundation for when my skin is feeling more dry, especially around my nose. I've been really impressed with this foundation \and want to try more of The Body Shop's makeup range, especially the Fresh Nude Foundation.

Makeup Academy Undress Your skin Illuminating Foundation in Porcelain
A spontaneous purchase during a browse on the Makeup Academy website, I have come to LOVE this foundation. I picked this up for £4 last summer and it sat unused in my makeup collection until October. I'll hold my hands up and admit that I only bought it to use as a travel foundation, as the squeezy tube is much more ideal than the bottles with pumps. I hadn't expected a lot from foundation, what with such a small price tag, but the surprise I felt was very welcome. The coverage of this is insane, I can't recommend it enough. If you haven't tried this foundation yet, definitely pick it up next time you're in superdrug. You can also get it from the Makeup Academy website for only £3 at the moment.
... And you get 5ml more in this than all the other four foundations!
