Netflix Favourites.

The weather is officially getting colder. When the skies turn grey and the rain looks like it's here to stay, is there anything better than snuggling under a blanket and indulging in a good old binge watch? Of course there isn't, so I thought I'd make a list of my top Netflix picks as that is my streaming service of choice!

I think most people have watched 13 Reasons Why by now, but if you haven't, you need to! The show is set after Hannah Baker's suicide but has a ton of flashbacks to show her life before she took it. It's just an important show to watch, though it can be hard to watch in places as it obviously tackles sensitive subjects. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with season 2. I can't recommend it enough.

Drew Barrymore is such a frickin' queen in this! If you want a show that is going to make you laugh, go for this. It's a fun take on the zombie genre, it had me and Glenn in stitches. The bonus is season 2 has already been announced and will be out in 2018, so there's plenty of time to catch up.

I used to watch The Vampire diaries religiously every week but I fell behind during the later seasons, so I'm glad the full series is on Netflix. There's 8 seasons in total, plus a spin off- The Originals, which is also on Netflix. Some seasons are better than others but I really enjoy this show, the last episode made me cry like a baby! Finally, a show that proves the books aren't always better.

I'm not into the whole Marvel & DC thing in a big way. Glenn can occasionally convince me to go see the newest one at the cinema but I'm in no way a fangirl. In fact, I fell sleep during The Dark Knight and Guardians of the Galaxy. However, I freaking LOVE Gotham. It focuses on the origins of the villains and I love that, I don't need to know the history of the characters going in. I think everyone who watches Gotham has their favourites, mine are Barbara and Jerome. The first 3 seasons are on Netflix but this isn't one where the episode update weekly so it'll be a while before season 4 appears.

I wrote about Izombie last year on my underrated TV shows post, back before season 1 had appeared on Netflix. I'm so pleased Netflix picked this up! The first three seasons are on Netflix, with season 4 starting sometime next year. This is another where the episodes update weekly so you can stay up to date with America. The first 2 seasons have different storylines every episode but season 3 really picks up with the drama. One of my top picks!

This is what me and Glenn are currently working our way through. I started it without Glenn and got 13 episodes in before having to start from the beginning because Glenn started to like it! We've just started season 3 and we've been making it through 3 episodes a night. This is a drama comedy, where the main character Jane gets accidentally artificially inseminated in the first episode. It has plenty of shocks in store while still being able to make us laugh. I love it!

I mean, do I even need to explain this? I don't think so! Four days and counting til season 2.

Again, who hasn't seen this by now? If you haven't, just know, the hype is real. You have to watch it.

I'm so sad that this has ended, the mystery of A is finally over. A mystery drama that isn't just for teens! 7 seasons of twists and turns, it is worth giving a go even if it isn't the usual sort of thing you'd go for. Just don't google anything, spoilers are hard to avoid!

My absolute favourite, hands down. Season 6 just finished, though only 5 seasons are on Netflix currently. This is the noughtie's version of Buffy, that's how I like to look at it anyway. Just swap the slayer for a werewolf and the scoobies for a pack. I love this show so much, it is the show I recommend most. It's not just my favourite on Netflix, it's my favourite show ever! It's loosely based on the 80's film of the same name, but obviously with better makeup. With 100 episodes to get through, it's perfect for a binge.

I started this the day it was released on Netflix and binge watched the whole season in one sitting. I've never done that with any other show, so I guess that's like a seal of approval right there. The costumes, the music, the big hair. Yes, yes, yes. I loved the whole thing, bring on season 2.

Riverdale is based on the Archie comics but the show is really dark in tone. If teen dramas are your bag (The OC, Gossip Girl etc.) then you will love Riverdale. Episodes update weekly and season 2 has just started so it will be easy to get up to date.

Do you have any Netflix recommendations?

Look Incredible Deluxe Box, October 2017.

Another month, another Look Incredible delivery. I'm subscribed to the deluxe edition which costs £35 per month and contains 4 or 5 full sized items. Look Incredible also do two other boxes. The standard edition, which costs £25 per month, contains a mix of 5 full size high end and high street products. The newly launched My Secret box is a bimonthly box, which costs £65.

Being honest, I'm disappointed in this month's deluxe box and I'm hoping it's just a one off for me and that next month will be another great month. It's another month of four products instead of five, which I think is the fourth or fifth month in a row now. I just hope the standard isn't going to drop now that they've launched a more luxe box. On the plus side, from what I've seen of the standard box this month, it looks amazing. I'll be keeping an eye on that over the next few months, and possibly might switch back to the standard box if the Deluxe doesn't pick up again.

Skin Doctors T-Zone Control No More Pores Night Refiner (RRP £23)
I'm not going to be keeping this products as although it does sound like a great product, there is a downside. I always like to read the boxes as well as Look Incredible's information card and I came across the sunburn alert. As someone who is extremely pale and already uses factor 50 during the summer, the idea of increasing my sensitivity to the sun even more just doesn't sound like a great idea. Even though we're heading into the colder months, I'm still going to pass on this.

Laura Geller Spackle Bronze Tinted Under Makeup Primer (RRP £25)
Let's get the other disappointment out of the way, shall we? Look Incredible already gave us a Spackle primer this year, back in February. I'm still making my way through that so I don't need a bronze version as well. It's a nice enough primer, not amazing, not bad but I don't understand why it's been included in a box again. From looking at other posts, even though the card and my primer was the bronze one, it looks as if some subscribers for the fortified primer, which is the exact same as the primer included in February. If that was me, I'd be annoyed as well as disappointed.

Helena Rubinstein Collagenist Re-Plump Lip Zoom (RRP £35)
I've given this a try and I really like the feel of it on my lips. I wouldn't say it made my lips look any fuller though but maybe after continued use? I expected it to have the tingling sensation associated with lip plumping products but there was none of that so it was quite nice to use. I'll be popping this in my handbag for when I need it.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer (RRP £17)
This is the product I'm most excited about. I think everyone knows about the hype surrounding this product, so do I even need to go on about it? This is the cheapest product in the box and the only one that caught my eye upon opening the box.

C'mon Look Incredible. I've been loving your boxes for two years, don't let me down now! please step up next month. This month was a dud for me but I have my fingers crossed for November.

What do you think to October's edition?

What I've Been Reading: September 2017.

Another month, another lot of books crossed off my to read list. I read a couple of these sunning myself by the pool in Spain and on the plane journey home. Then I was back to my usual setup of wrapped in a duvet!

It's a fairly varied mix this month in concerns to genre. Chick lit, thriller, horror, supernatural and young adult. It's all here! It's a very british author heavy month though, which wasn't a conscious choice. Maybe I was feeling homesick while on my holiday!

"Roberta 'Bobbie' Rowe is not the kind of person who believes in ghosts. A halloween dare at her ridiculously spooky boarding school is no big deal, especially when her best friend Naya and cute local boy Caine agree to join in too. They are ordered to summon the legendary ghost of 'Bloody Mary': say her name five times in front of a candlelit mirror, and she shall appear... But, surprise, surprise, nothing happens. Or does it? Next morning, Bobbie finds a message on her bathroom mirror... five days... but what does it mean? And who left it there? Things get increasingly weird and more terrifying for Bobbie and Naya, until it becomes clear that Bloody Mary was indeed called from the afterlife that night, and she if definitely not a friendly ghost. Bobbie, Naya and Caine are now in a race against time before their five days are up and Mary comes for them, as she has come for countless others before..."

I'm not much of an avid horror reader but I really enjoyed this. In fact, apart from The Dead List by Jennifer Armentrout, I think the last horror book I read would either be a Goosebumps or Point Horror book back when I was in my early teens! Despite hearing of Bloody Mary before, the book wasn't predictable and left me gripped from the early pages. The ending was perfect and not what I expected at all. Yes, yes ,yes... A definite recommend.

"What can you do to make the world a better place? Libby helps a stranger, and transforms her life in the process. Libby and her husband Jason have moved back to his hometown to turn the family B&B into a boutique hotel. They have left London behind and all the memories- good and bad- that went with it. The injured woman Libby finds lying in the remote country road has lost her memory. She doesn't know why she came to be there, and no one seems to be looking for her. When Libby offers to take her in, this one small act of kindness sets in motion a chain of events that will change many people's lives..."

This one was my least favourite book of September. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. The story started very slow and it dragged on too long. It usually only takes me a couple of days to finish a book but this took me a week and a half as it couldn't hold my attention for long. Not for me, sorry.

"In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son's red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragic story of the year- a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned. His body was never recovered. Ten years later, Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life. She's married, pregnant, and in control again... Until Aiden returns. Too traumatized to speak, he raises endless questions and answers none. Only his body tells the story of his decade-long disappearance. The historic broken bones and injuries cast a mere glimpse into the horrors Aiden has experienced. Aiden never drowned. Aiden was taken. As Emma attempts to reconnect with her now teenage son, she must unmask the monster who took him away from her. But who, in their tiny village, could be capable of such a crime? It's Aiden who has the answers, but he cannot tell the unspeakable."

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you'll know that this is the third novel by Sarah A. Denzil that I've read. And surprise, it's another good'un! The one is a lot darker in tone than the other two but might be my favourite out of the three. Honestly, Sarah's writing is amazing and she's easily become one of my favourite authors that I've discovered this year.

"Izzy Harris should have it all- but her boyfriend has been ignoring her for months, she's been overlooked for a promotion, and the owner of her local coffee shop pervs on her every time she has a craving for a salted caramel muffin. Then her life is unexpectedly turned upside down. Izzy dumps her oblivious boyfriend, and leaps on the chance to win a big pitch at work. Needing to work closely with gorgeous colleague Alex is an added perk... But then her best friend has her heart broken, the pitch is way more complicated than expected, and Alex is keeping secrets. Does Izzy have what it takes to help her friend, save her career and get the guy?"

Hmmm. This wasn't quite what I was expecting. And yes, there will be spoiler talk here. Izzy wakes up one morning invisible. What? I was expecting a cute little chick lit book and then I was thrown through a loop. If this had been mentioned in the blurb, I probably wouldn't have bought it. It wasn't a bad book, it was just sort of... meh. I really wanted to like it as I loved Counting Stars by the same author but this doesn't pack the same punch as that. It hasn't put me off reading more books by Keris Stainton though.

"Possessing the uncanny ability to fry a television set from twenty paces can really wreck a girl's social life. If you're looking for proof, just ask sixteen-year-old Alexandra Parker. After catching her boyfriend in the arms of the prettiest girl in school, she made the journey from social elite to social pariah in a haze of electricity and exploding electronics. But finding herself at the bottom of Bay View High's social hierarchy was nothing compared to the shock of discovering who- and what- she really is. After being zapped out of a burning bookstore by the mysterious Declan- a hero nearly as handsome as he is infuriating- Alex finds herself under the protection of the powerful Grayson family. It's through them that she learns the truth: that the world she's always known is nothing like it appears to be... and that she has far more in common with them than she might want to believe. Now, on the run from a fire-wielding hit man, and a secretive government organization, Alex must navigate a strange and treacherous new world filled with superhuman mutants known as Variants. As she begins to unravel the many secrets of her family's past, she uncovers the real reason for her parents' death twelve years earlier- and finds out the threat to her family, and to everyone she cares about, is still dangerously real."

I sped through the first three books of the Variant series the last few days of September and greedily started on the fourth at the start of this month. Without a doubt, the reading highlight of my month. Even though Alex is the main character, I love that the books focus on different character's points of view. The books all tie together brilliantly, there are parts in the first book that don't seem that important, but get mentioned later in the series and turn out to be key. It is just so cleverly written. I've since finished the fourth book as well and I eagerly await the rest of the series!

What were you reading in September?
If you want to find out what else I've crossed off my list, don't forget to check out my blog post from previous months and you can also follow me on Bloglovin to stay up to date with any future posts.

Look Incredible Deluxe Box, September 2017.

Month after month, Look Incredible stay consistant with how amazing their beauty boxes are. I don't see myself falling out of love with this subscription anytime soon! The deluxe box costs £35, which includes postage. The only downer for me is that the past few months have downsized to 4 items instead of 5.

Florapy Therapy Sheet Masks x2 (RRP £16)
I've never heard of this brand before and I've yet to try a sheet mask, so I'm very excited to use these. From the looks of Instagram, there was a selection of different masks you could receive. I got an anti-aging one which has calendula and sage, as well as a hydrating one which has blackberry and primrose. They're vegan friendly and safe for sensitive skin.

Makeup Forever Artistic Eveshadow Palette (RRP £37)
For the past few months, there's been an eyeshadow palette included and I have no complaints about that! The only products I've tried from Makeup Forever are a mascara and a lash primer so I'm looking forward to using these shadows. The packaging seems unnecessarily bulky but I guess the idea is that you can use the tin after all the shadows have gone? Who knows!

The one thing that baffles me... Apparently one of them is a blush? By the looks of it, it seems to be the bright purple but there's no way in hell that is going on my cheeks!

Smashbox Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquer in Bordeaux (RRP £20)
I love the shade I got in this and again, from looking at Instagram it seems there was a wide range of shades available. This shade is going to be perfect now that autumn is fast approaching (or is it technically Autumn already?!) though I would have preferred it as a matte liquid lipstick as this seems rather sticky and I'm not about that gloss look.

Shiseido Nourishing Mascara Base (RRP £22.50)
According to the leaflet included in the box, subscribers would have eithr received this or Mac's upward lash mascara. I've already my way through that mascara so I'm glad I got this instead. The only other mascara base I've tried is Makeup Forever's so I was expecting the product coating the wand to resemble that. Whereas Makeup Forever's are like white lash fibres, this seems to be a clear siliconey texture. It'll be interesting to see how the two compare!

What I've Been Reading: August 2017.

Another month, another lot of books added to my 'read' list on Goodreads. There was only one book I couldn't bring myself to finish this month and it was a free pre-release on amazon so no wasted money there!

Andrew Harper grew up in a house marked by tragedy. His older brother Owen did his best to shelter him, but you can only be protected from life's pain for so long. Eventually, you end up just feeling numb... and isolated. Loneliness was the one constant in Andrew's life. Until one girl, met by chance in a high school hallway, changed everything. Emma Burke was a mystery and all that was beautiful in this world, the only air Andrew ever wanted to breathe. She took the lonely away, and filled it with hope and colour, and Andrew would do anything to keep her safe, happy and whole. But sometimes, what feels good and right is what ends up hurting us the most. And when Andrew and Emma are faced with an impossible decision, Andrew is tested to see just how far he's willing to go for the girl who owns his heart. Cuts are deep. Scars are left behind. And revenge beckons. When Andrew finally gets his chance, in college, five years after his first love broke him completely, he finds out old feelings don't really disappear just because you say you hate someone. The more he tries to avenge all that he believes he lost, the more he uncovers the real story of what happened years before. Love is wicked. But a restless heart is never satisfied beating on its own. Can Andrew and Emma make it right before it's too late, or will the ties that bind them now destroy their only chance at a future?

This is the second novel in the Harper Boys series and being totally honest, I preferred the first. I still enjoyed this book but my heart belongs more to Owen and I liked his story better. I really like Ginger's style of writing and I've already added more books to my to read list.

You have 18 months left to live...
On a wet Monday in January, Jess Mount checks Facebook and discovers her timeline appears to have skipped forward 18 months, to a day when shocked family and friends are posting heartbreaking tributes to her foloowing her death in an accident. Jess is left scared and confused: Is she the target of a cruel online prank or is this a terrifying glimpse of her true fate? Amongst the posts are photos of a gorgeous son she has not yet conceived. But when new posts suggest her death was deliberate, Jess realises that if she changes the future to save her own life, the baby boy she has fallen in love with may never exis
t.

Oh my days, I LOVED this book! I'd never read anything by Linda Green before and this was the best introduction I could have had. The idea of being able to see your future via Facebook is such a different idea that is executed beautifully in this. 100% recommend!

Juliet Young always write letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother's death, she leaves letters at her grave. It's the only way Juliet can cope. Declan Murphy isn't the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he's trying yo escape the demons of his past. When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can't resist writing back. Soon, he's opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they're not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.

I have a feeling this book is very popular at the moment as it's part of the current picks for Zoella's book club. It's easy to see why it's one of the current books as it really is a good read. I admit I cried during this, especially nearing the end and I maybe even fell a bit in love with Rev, Declan's best friend. The reveal near the end was unexpected (no spoilers though!) and was the part that made me tear up. I've already added another book by Brigid Kemmerer to my to reads list, as well as the follow up to this due out in 2018 which focuses more on Rev.

Being young is all about the experiences: the first time you skip school, the first time you fall in love... the first time someone holds a gun to your head. After being held hostage during a robbery at the local convenience store, seventeen-year-old Edie finds her attitude about life shattered. Unwilling to put up with the snobbery and bullying at her private school, she enrolls at the local public high school, crossing paths with John. The boy who risked his life to save hers. While Edie's beginning to run wild, however, John's just starting to settle down. After years of partying and dealing drugs with his older brother, he's going straight- getting to class on time, and thinking about the future. An unlikely bond grows between the two as John keeps Edie out of trouble and helps her broaden her horizons. But when he helps her out with another first- losing her virginity- their friendship gets complicated. Meanwhile, Edie and john are pulled back into the dangerous world they narrowly escaped. They were lucky to survive the first time, but this time they have more to lose- each other.

If I had to pick a favourite book for August, it would be this. This was amazing and I'll defintely be giving it a reread. The relationship between Edie and John was so realistic and it was easy to fall in love with their story. I didn't want to put this down and I was sad when it ended only because I wanted to read about them some more!

Moxie girls fight back! Vivian Carter is fed up. Fed up with a school administration at her small-town Texas high school that thinks the football team can do no wrong. Fed up with sexist dress codes, hallway harassment, and gross comments from guys during class. But most of all, Viv Carter is fed up with always following the rules. Viv's mom was a tough-as-nails, punk rock Riot Grrrl in the '90s, and now Viv takes a page from her mother's past and creates a feminist zine that she distributes anonymously to her classmates. She's just blowing off steam, but other girls respond. As Viv forges friendships with other young women across the divides of cliques and popularity rankings, she realizes that what she has started is nothing short of a girl revolution. Moxie is a book about high school life that will make you wanna riot!

Another book from Zoella's book club, this is an important read. In today's society, where you constantly hear about girls being sent home from school for wearing "inappropriate" clothing and assault victims being made to feel like it was their own fault, the message of this book needs to be heard. The final chapters made me cry and this is another book I'll be rereading.

A lot can change in the space between devising a plan and carrying it out. That space is called the Interim.
High school seniors Jeremy Stahl and Regan Walters aren't friends. Not even close. He's a picked-on, picked-apart loser outcast. She's a cool kid running with the popular crowd. It's unlikely they'd ever speak to one another. Too bad he's madly in love with her. But what does is matter anyway? He's got no time for love. Only revenge. Meticulously detailed in the pages of his battered red notebook is his master plan: April 14, 9:30 A.M., two guns, eighty rounds of ammo, backup knives, eleven victims. He's finally ready to answer every single taunt, jeer, and flying fist- unwarranted abuse that's spanned six years of his lonely life. He's justified. He's ready. But he never readied himself for her. Regan finds his journal. She reads it, and when he discovers her intrusion, he has to switch tactics. She's a liability now. Better fix that.

This is second book I've read by S. Walden and this is more proof that she doesn't shy away from difficult subject matters. I liked this even more than Going Under, though it was a hard read in places. The books switches between Jeremy and Regan's POV, which made it more enjoyable than if it had just been through Jeremy's eyes. While the subject may be difficult, the message is clear. Be kind to one another. A good read, and another one I want to reread in the future.

I do round ups of what I've been reading every month, so if none of these sound like books you'd be interested in, make sure to check out my post for previous months. You can also follow me on Bloglovin to stay up to date with new posts.

11 September 2017

Look Incredible Deluxe Box, August 2017.

I've been such a slacker lately, seeing how I'm only just getting round to reviewing the contents of the August Look Incredible deluxe box. The box costs £35 a month and contains full sized luxury beauty items. This month contains 4 products, instead of the usual 5 but one of the products more than makes up for that!

Too Faced Funfetti Eyeshadow Palette (RRP £30)
Too Faced are my favourite brand when it comes to eyeshadow palettes so I'm super pleased with this addition! I believe this palette was exclusive to Selfridges in the UK but isn't available to buy anymore. All the shades in this palette are extremely versatile, I can't wait to have a play around with it.

Nars Velvet Lip Liner in Patong Beach (RRP £18)
Lip liners are the one product I could actually do with more of, so any that appear in Look Incredible boxes are a welcome sight. I love the colour of this, especially now that we're heading into autumn.

Kiehl's Powerful Strength Eye Brightening Concentrate (RRP £39)
I'm umming and ahhing over whether to give this a go. I've never tried any Kiehl's products before so I'm curious, especially given the price tag how well this will work. The powerful strength claim worries me a bit as I do suffer from sensitive skin around my eyes but I could really use getting rid of my dark circles! I'm going to use it sparingly to see how my skin reacts before going full out with this but I've got my fingers crossed!

Mac Nail Lacquer in Texturise (RRP £13)
I'm so not a nail person, I rarely have to patience so I'm disappointed with this. This seems to be a top coat, though I know other boxes last month actually got some really nice shades. This will be added to my small stash but I can't see myself reaching for it much.

What do you think to this edition? The september box is already on it's way and I'm hoping for higher things. Even though I loved the makeup products, I'm unsure on the other two products but I still love this subscription!

13 August 2017

What I've Been Reading: July 2017.

I appear to have upped my reading game as I managed to fly through eights books in July. Two books that failed to hold my attention went onto the DNF finish pile so I won't be mentioning them fully in this post.

My name is Amber Reynolds. There are 3 things you should know about me: 1. I'm in a coma. 2. My husband doesn't love my anymore. 3. Sometimes I lie.

The blurb on this is short, sweet and doesn't giving anything away about the book's plot. I went into this with a very open mind as I didn't have a clue what to expect. The book switches between the present day with amber in the coma, Amber's POV in the week leading up to her accident and flashbacks to Amber's childhood via a diary. There is so much going on in this that I couldn't get enough of it. There's so many twists and turns that you might get whiplash and I was not ready for the ending at all. I can't say too much without giving away all the good stuff, I get why the blurb is so vague now but this is a book you most definitely need to get your mitts on!

A shadow follows Sophie. Watching. Waiting. Her instinct tells her that it's someone she knows. But Who? The man she met internet dating? The nurse caring for her ill mother? Or is her mother faking her illness? The only thing she knows is that she can't trust anyone. Sophie must delve into a dark history to reveal her stalker. But there are some stories that should never be told...

I'd already read Saving April by Sarah A. Denzil and loved it, so it came as no surprise to me that I ended up loving this too. I think I even loved this one more as I finished this in a day. I managed to predict vaguely where this was going (and if you watch Pretty Little Liars, you'd probably be able to guess too) but not quite the hows and wheres of it. The how is the most shocking of all and left me feeling justified with my hatred of a certain character.
I've already added Silent Child, Sarah's other novel, to my to-read list as the two books I've read have set a high standard and I've no doubt that I'll love that too.

It's spring break of senior year. Anna, her boyfriend Tate, her best friend Elise, and a few other close friends are off on a debaucherous trip to Aruba that promises to be the time of their lives. But when Elise is found brutally murdered, Anna finds herself trapped in a country not her own, fighting against vile and contemptuous accusations. As Anna sets out to find her friend's killer, she discovers hard truths about her friendships, the slippery nature of truth, and the ache of young love. As she awaits the judge's decree, it becomes clear that everyone around her thinks she is not just guilty, but dangerous. When the truth comes out, it is more shocking than one could ever imagine...

This was definitely my favourite book of the month and I can't recommend it highly enough! It's reminiscent of real life cases such as Amanda Knox's conviction, it does make you think but it's important to remember that this is still fiction! While this is classed as YA, the fact that I'm in the wrong side of my twenties to be considered one didn't take away any of my enjoyment of the book.
The timeline constantly switches, showing you Anna's life before the trip, the lead up the Elise's body being discovered, the aftermath of that and Anna's trial. I honestly had no idea how this was going to end, but when it did I found the ending very satisfying, if shocking.

Halley has always followed in the wake of her best friend, Scarlett. But when Scarlett learns that her boyfriend has been killed in a motorcycle accident, and that she's carrying his baby, she's devastated. For the first time ever, Scarlett really needs Halley. Their friendship may bend under the weight, but it'll never break- because a true friendship is a promise you keep forever.

This was a cute read, something that Sarah Dessen does well. I've been an avid reader of hers since I was a teenager and again, the fact that I no longer am one, doesn't take away my enjoyment. It isn't my favourite Sarah Dessen book but I did like it. I'd recommend The Truth About Forever or What Happened to Goodbye if you want to read a Sarah Dessen book, as I love those!

Kensington Worth had a vision for her senior year. It involved her best friends, her posh private school in downtown Chicago and time alone with her piano until her audition was perfected, a guaranteed tickets into the best music programs in the world. Instead, a nightmare took over. It didn't happen all at once, but her life unraveled quickly- a tiny thread that evil somehow kept pulling until everything precious was taken from her. She was suddenly living miles away from her old life, trapped in an existence she didn't  choose- one determined to destroy her from the inside, leaving only hate and anger behind. It didn't help that her neighbour, the one whose eyes held danger, was enjoying every second of her fall. Owen Harper was trouble, his heart wild and his past the kind that's spoken about in whispers. And somehow, his path was always intertwined with Kensington's, every interaction crushing her, ruining her hope for any future better than her now. Sometimes though, what everyone warns is trouble, is exactly what the heart needs. Owen Harper was consumed with darkness, and it held onto his sould for years. When Kensington looked at him, she saw a boy who'd gotten good at taking others down when they threatened his carefully balanced life. But the more she looked, the more she saw other things too- good things... Things to admire. Things... To love. Things that made her want to be reckless. And those things... they were the scariest of all.

This is the first book in the Harper Boys series and I really enjoyed it. I liked the progression of Kensington and Owen's relationship ans there was some shocking moments in the book that I wasn't expecting. I wouldn't say I loved it was it was a good read and I'm glad it popped up in my Goodreads recommendations.

Big city, big dreams, no money, no problem... Six 'friends', one flat, big dreams... What could go wrong? When eightenn-year-old Anna leaves school and moves to Liverpool, she feels like her life is finally beginning. She'd lander her dream job at a theatre, and she's moving into an exciting (if not slightly run-down) flat on a buzzing street lined with shops, bars and buckers. Best of all, her new flatmates are kind, welcoming and a lot of fun- what more could she ask for? But although her new life is fun, it's also a little overwhelming. Anna's job quickly falls through, and then she realises that although her new friends are great, they're also a little mixed-up... and it's not long before Anna starts using her blog to talk about hr experiences, from the hilarious to the ridiculous to the little-bit-scary. But when Anna spills a bigger secret than she can handle, suddenly the consequences are all too real. She'll have to prove she has the mettle to make it in the big city, or risk losing everything she thinks she wants.

Keris Stainton is an author that's been on my radar for a while but this is actually the first book I've read of her's. I wasn't disappointed by the time I'd finished this so it was definitely worth the wait. The point of view switches throughout between Anna and her flatmates, which I really liked as they all had their own storylines and it leads up to Anna spilling the secret as mentioned in the blurb nicely. I had my favourites out of the flatmates, those being Nina and Sean and it was refreshing to read a book around being at uni, actually set in England! Is it me or am I just missing out? If you know any more university novels by british authors, throw some recommendations my way please!

Confession: Sarra Manning is my favourite author, ever. It started when I read an excerpt of Guitar Girl in a magazine and promptly went out to buy the book. Fourteen years on, that crown isn't going anywhere. I love her YA novels and I love her adult novels... but this is the first book I haven't actually loved. I liked it but for me, this doesn't compare to her other books. It just didn't grip me.
I like how her other books intertwine with each other, and this one doesn't. The YA books have fictional bands that pop up every now and then, while the adult books have common links like Skirt magazine, where a few of the characters work. I just find the way Sarra has linked the books to create one world in which the characters in the books all live really clever and I haven't really noticed anything similar in other books that aren't part of a series before. As for my favourites by Sarra Manning, I'd recommend Let's Get Lost, You Don't Have To Say You Love Me and Unsticky.

A serial killer is stalking your home town. He has a type: all his victims look the same. And they all look like you. Kate returns home from a post break-up holiday with her girlfriends to news of a serial killer in her home town- and his victims all look like her. It could, of course, be a simple coincidence. Or maybe not. She becomes convinced she is being watched, followed even. Is she next? And could her mild-mannered ex-boyfriend really be a deranged murderer? Or is the truth something far more sinister?

I didn't use to reach for thriller books but I've made it through a few lately and boy, is this one good! So good, I immediately added both of Alex Lake's books to my to-read list! The book starts after Kate's break up, with one murder already having taken place. The book flips between Kate's POV and her ex-boyfriend's, as well as adding in flashbacks to do with one of Kate's friends. I didn't find it easy to work out who the serial killer was while I was reading it but there are little clues dropped throughout the book which I didn't pick up on until it was revealed! A gem of a book, I recommend it!
