Book Series I've Been Loving Recently.

Since buying a Kindle, I've discovered a lot of new authors and series so I thought I'd share a couple of them with you. The two series that I'm going to mention have had me hooked, as soon as I finished one book, I had to start the next. The last series that got the same reaction from me was the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout and I read that over a year ago. I'd been trying to find a series that drew me in as much as that did and if you haven't read the Lux series, I definitely recommend checking it out!

Both of these series have supernatural themes running throughout them, but don't automatically jump to the conclusion of 'girl falls for boy, boy is vampire/witch/werewolf'... delete where appropriate! These series are so different from that cliche and that is what makes these series so special.

Little Forest Series By Jessica Grace Coleman.
I read The Former World as it was a free ebook on amazon (though this is not true anymore, unlucky folks.) I made it through all five ebooks in about two weeks. The series centres around Beth Powers and her friends who live in the village of Little Forest in Covershire. Beth is no ordinary girl, she's a gazer, meaning she can see spectres visiting from the former world. Book one sets the series up nicely and every book has it's own mystery. Taking aside the supernatural stuff, the relationships developing throughout the series are written perfectly, including the dynamic of Beth and Will, who I've been rooting for since book one.

Kassidy Bell Series by Lynda O'Rourke.
Drug was the second ever purchase I made on my kindle after buying it last summer. I sped through the first two books pretty quickly, but the third book, Demon, was only released about three weeks ago... And I finished that in a day, I was so eager to read it.
The series starts with a drug trial, or at least that's what the volunteers think they've signed up for. The volunteers are injected with VA20, something they've agreed to to make some easy money, but instead they end up fighting for their lives. The first book is only 99p on Kindle, in fact the whole series so far costs just over £5 which is a complete bargain. I guarantee if you read the first book, you'll be hooked and want to read the rest! 

Cohorted box, March 2016.

It's cohorted time again! By the time I'd opened my box, I'd already seen what was included online as some people received their boxes the day before. Maybe that added to why I felt disappointed with this month's box as I do enjoy the element of surprise! So this is my third Cohorted box but it's the first one I've felt underwhelmed by. I'll explain why as we go through the products.

One thing I do like, is that Cohorted have changed the packaging. Not the black box, that is the same beautiful black box as always, but the delivery box that the black box comes in. Before it was just your standard brown box, but now they've upped that to their own Cohorted branded ones!

Pixi Crayon Combo in Supernatural. (RRP £14.50)
You may recognise this as the elusive product that should've been included in February's box but got replaced with the Dove true tone. I haven't used anything by Pixi before but I have heard good things about the brand... I'm just not that excited by this product. I'll be keeping it but I don't see it as something I'll be reaching for often.

BareMinerals Heavenly Face Brush (RRP £25)
To be fair, this is a nice brush and I will use it, I just would have preferred to have another make up product rather than a brush. That's all I can say about that!

Nails Inc polish in Cadogan Square (RRP £9)
I'm not really a nail polish girl, I just don't have the patience most of the time. When I can actually be bothered to do them, I have my favourite polishes already and this won't be added to them! I'm not a fan of the colour and I just expected a bit more from this box than a £9 nail polish. I also read on another blog that this is the old Nails Inc packaging that was discontinued... So the the nail polish itself must be pretty old.

TheBalm Nude 'Tude Eyeshadow Palette (RRP £35) & TheBalm Put A Lid On It Eyelid Primer (RRP £5)
The eyeshadow palette is the saving grace of this box for me, so that's something at least. The packaging is adorable and I'll definitely be making the most of finally getting my hands on the palette. Cohorted have listed the RRP as £35 but that's clearly wrong as you buy this from The Balm section in Superdrug for £30. They've also listed the Primer as a product by itself yet I know that you can get this sample size included when you buy the palette. It just feels like a cop out to list them as individual products when they could have added another product to this month's box to pad it out.


Overall, I'm disappointed by this month's box, especially for the £35 price tag. I expected more for my money considering that this is one of the priciest beauty boxes on the market. Hopefully Cohorted step their game up for next month, especially now that Look Incredible have introduced their deluxe box for the same price as this box.

February Empties.

When I thought about doing an empties post, I'll admit that I didn't think I'd actually end up doing one. I didn't think I'd get through enough products in a month to actually make such a post worthwhile.

But I came away from February with six product empties, which is at least four more than I would have predicted. It would have been more had I saved the packets my Lush bath bombs were in... but I'll remember that for next time!

Bastiste Dry Shampoo Coconut & Exotic Tropical
I feel like everyone has their preferred scent when it comes to Bastiste dry shampoo. This one is mine! I love getting that odd whiff of coconut throughout the day. I also buy the big 400ml cans as this is such an essential for me.

L'Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Water
When it comes to Micellar water, everyone seems to love the Garnier one but this L'oreal one is my favourite. It takes my makeup off better than anyone other water I've tried and my skin feels super clean and fresh after I've used this. I always make sure to buy a new bottle when I'm close to running out.

Nivea Pearl & Beauty Anti-Perspirant 
Not alot to say about this one, it's a deodourant and it works! Nivea is my brand of choice when it comes to anti-perspirant.

No7 Natural Blush in Soft Damson.
How much pan has to be showing before you class a blush product as empty?! I've had this blushers for ages, we're talking years here. It's a beautiful soft pink that has served me well. I've since fallen for other blushers since I first bought this and there's other brands out there that I want to try so I won't be rushing out to repurchase this just yet.

James Brown Photo Fabulous Heat Protection Spray
The fact that this is now a discontinued product should be a clue to how long I've had this. Unfortunately I'm rubbish at remembering to use heat protection before attacking my hair with straighteners so this 125ml spray that shouldn't have lasted that long at all, has remained with me for years. Not to mention, it fell out of favour the one time I grabbed this instead of make up setting spray... Don't spray it on your face, it isn't pleasant. Now I've bought a different heat protector. I'm making sure I use it religiously.

Simple Kind To Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel
I love love Love Simple. It's a brand I trust and will remain loyal to for years to come. As someone with sensitive skin, it's my go to brand. I'll be the first to hold my hands up and admit that I'm a bit of a Simple junkie. Definite Repurchase!
